OXFORD: Small Town With A Rural Feel
Oxford Connecticut, was founded in 1741 and is the largest town in the Naugatuck Valley. From picturesque rolling hills to a modern airport, Oxford offers the old-fashioned charm of rural New England along with a convenient central location and the resources of a thriving suburb. Due to its expansive countryside, dairy farming has long been Oxford’s chief industry. Recently, however, the growth of Oxford’s business and industrial base has taken off. Telecommunications, high-tech research and development, manufacturing and plastic tooling are currently among the major employers in Oxford.
A number of exquisite parks and lakes provide boundless outdoor opportunities for residents including Kettletown State Park, Jackson Cove Park, Lake Zoar and Housatonic Beach. Oxford also maintains several excellent recreation facilities that offer tennis, supervised play for children and organized team sports. Oxford is located between the Naugatuck and Housatonic Rivers in the Naugatuck Valley. With its sweeping meadows and open fields, Oxford is a perfect choice for peaceful family living.
